சமூக குழுப்பணியில் ஆரம்பிக்கப்படும் ஐந்து வகையான குழுக்களுள் ஒன்று (மற்ற நான்கு வகைகள் - ஆதரவுக் குழு, கல்விக் குழு, வளர்ச்சிக் குழு, மற்றும் சிகிச்சைக் குழு). குழு உறுப்பினர்களுக்கிடையே சமூகமயமாதலை ஊக்குவிக்கவும், மீள் சமூகமயமாக்கல் (Re- Socialization), பாதிக்கப்பட்டவர்களுக்கான சமூகமயமாக்கல் (Victim Socialization) போன்றவற்றிற்கு உதவவும் ஆரம்பிக்கப்படும் குழுக்கள்.

In social group work, one of the five major types of group (along with support group, education group, growth group, and therapy group). Socialization groups frequently use structured program activities such as games, outings, and recreation. A major purpose of such groups is to improve the interpersonal relationship skills of the members.
