உடமைகளற்றிருந்தாலும், நிர்ந்தரமான வேலையற்றிருந்தாலும், நகரத் தெருக்களில் சுற்றியலைந்து தங்களுக்கான பிழைப்பைத் தேடிக்கொள்ளும், இடர்ப்பாடுகளைச் சமாளிக்கத் தெரிந்த சாமர்த்தியசாலிகள். மரபொழுக்கங்களைச் சாராது தெருவில் திரிந்தாலும் (street people), எந்தப்பிரச்சனையிலும் சிக்கிக்கொள்ளாமல், மற்றவர்களின் சுரண்டலுக்கு உட்படாமல், தங்களுக்குத் தேவையான பணத்தையோ அல்லது பொருட்களையோ சம்பாதிக்கத் தெரிந்த / சேகரிக்கத் தெரிந்த சாமர்த்தியசாலிகள். இது தனியாக ஒருவரைக் குறிப்பதாக அமையாமல், இந்த சாமர்த்தியத்தில் சிலவற்றையோ, பலவற்றையோ பெற்று, இடர்ப்பாடுகளைச் சமாளிக்கும், வசதிகளற்று வாழும் அனைவருக்கும் பொருந்தும்.

Possessing survival and coping skills, descriptive of some youths and adults who spend most of their time in public places. Their skills include being able to avoid exploitation by others, finding sources of money or goods whenever needed, avoiding unwanted contacts with authorities, and being able to live outside the established social system. This is a relative term, and everyone possesses or lacks some of these social skills or coping skills at times. The term is synonymous with "streetwise".
