போதைப் பொருட்களை அளவுக்குமீறி எடுத்து அதற்கு அடிமையான ஒருவர், அதை நிறுத்தும்போது உடனடியாகவோ அல்லது ஓரிரு மணிகளிலோ, ஓரிரு நாட்களோ அல்லது ஓரிரு வாரங்களோ ஏற்படும் சித்தப்பிரமை. மதுப் பழக்கத்திற்கு ஆட்பட்ட ஒருவர் அதை நிறுத்தும்போது ஏற்படும் விளைவுகளை நடுக்கச் சித்தப்பிரமை அல்லது நடுக்குச் ஜன்னி என்பர்.

A delirium that occurs after termination or reduction of relatively high doses of certain medications or substances. Duration ranges from minutes after withdrawal begins to two to four weeks. When alcohol is the substance, the condition is also known as delirium tremens (DTs).
