அரசின் சட்டமோ, அமைப்போ அல்லது திட்டமோ குறிப்பிட்ட காலத்திற்குப் பின் மறுபரிசீலனை செய்யப்பட்டு, தொடர்ந்து செயல்படலாம் என்று உரிய அதிகாரத்தால் பரிந்துரைக்கப்படாமலிருந்தால் அது தன்னிச்சையாகக் காலாவதியாகுமாறு செய்யும் சட்ட ஷரத்துகள். எடுத்துக்காட்டாக சமூகப்பணியாளர்களுக்கு வழங்கப்படும் தொழில் உரிமம். அது குறிப்பிட்ட காலத்திற்குப் பின் புதுப்பிக்கபடாத பட்சத்தில், அந்த உரிமம் தன்னிச்சையாகக் காலாவதியாகும். இது பல திட்டங்களுக்கும் பொருந்தும். எ.கா. ஓட்டுநர் உரிமம், வாகனப் பதிவு, கடவுச் சீட்டு (passport) முதலியன.

Statutes that require an organization to demonstrate periodically that it is achieving the goals it was established to achieve. If the organization cannot do this, according to these laws, it is automatically discontinued. For example, some states have required certain professions that sought licensing to show after several years that the granting of licenses provided some benefit to the public.
