support system

An interrelated group of people, resources, and organizations that provide individuals with emotional, informational, material, and affectional sustenance. Members of a support system may include an individual's closest friends, family members, key members of the peer group, fellow employees, membership organizations, and institutions that can be called on for help in times of need.
