Assigning shared responsibilities to two or more social workers in agencies with high rates of employee stress to provide them with the mutual help and collaborative opportunities needed to reduce the likelihood of burnout. Pairing gives both workers a degree of stress reduction through mutual ventilation, elimination of isolation, opportunities for the exchange of information, and mutual respect and dependence. This shared responsibility is particularly useful in working with nonmotivated multiproblem families and terminally ill clients.
