task implementation sequence (TIS)

A systematic procedure for helping clients accomplish general tasks and operational tasks by enhancing the client's commitment to carrying out a specific task; planning the details for carrying it out; analyzing and resolving the anticipated obstacles; having clients rehearse the behaviors in carrying out the task; and summarizing the plan for task implementation, conveying encouragement and expectation that the client will carry out the task. TIS should be applied systematically but with flexibility to fit different client circumstances and models of intervention.
