therapy

A systematic process and activity designed to remedy, cure, or abate some disease, disability, or problem. Social workers often use this term as a synonym for psychotherapy, psychosocial therapy, or group therapy. When social workers discuss other types of therapy, such as occupational therapy, physical therapy, recreational herapy, medication therapy, or chemotherapy, they use these more specific terms.
