Social work educator and scholar who created an influential generic casework curriculum used in many schools of social work and developed concepts for integrating public assistance programs with human behavior and needs. She wrote the social work classic Common Human Needs in 1945 (Silver Spring, MD: National Association of Social Workers, revised 1987).
