உதவுவதற்கோ அல்லது தேவையான மாற்றங்களை முன்னெடுக்கவோ சமூகப் பணியாளர்களும், பிற சிறப்புத் தொழிலினரும் அக்கறை கொண்டு பார்க்கும் நிகழ்வு / பிரச்சனை / நடத்தை. எடுத்துக்காட்டாக உளப்பகுப்பாய்வுக் கோட்பாட்டின்படி பிரச்சனையை அணுகும் சமூகப்பணியாளர், ஒரு மனிதரின் உள்மன செயல்முறைகளை / போராட்டங்களை அறிந்துகொள்ள அக்கறை காட்டுவார். ஒரு சமுதாய அமைப்பாளரோ ஒரு சமுதாயத்தில் செயல்படும் ஒன்றிற்கு ஒன்று ஆதரவாகவும், எதிராகவும் செயல்படும் முயற்சிகளை அறிந்துகொள்ள அக்கறை காட்டுவார். சமூக குழுப்பணியாளர் குழுச் செயல்முறைகளை அறிந்துகொள்ளவும், சமூக உளவியல் கண்ணோட்டத்தில் செயல்படும் சமூகப்பணியாளர்கள், மனிதர்களை அவர்களின் சந்தர்ப்ப சூழல் எப்படிக் கட்டமைகிக்கிறது என்பதை அறிந்துகொள்ள அக்கறை காட்டுவார். நடத்தை சார்ந்த கண்ணோட்டத்தைப் பின்பற்றும் நடத்தையியலாளர்கள் குறிப்பிட்ட நடத்தை மீது அக்கறையும், சமூகச் செயல்பாட்டாளர்கள், பாராளுமன்றத்தில் அறிமுகப்படுத்தப்படவுள்ள புதிய மசோதாவின் சாதக பாதகங்களை அறிந்துகொள்ள அக்கறை காட்டுவர்.

The focal point of intervention to which the social worker or other professional directs efforts to provide help or effect change. For example, the unit of attention for the clinical social worker with a psychoanalytic orientation would be the intrapsychic processes of the individual, and that of a community organizer would be the interacting social forces that exist in a given community. Units of attention for group workers are the group process, and for psychosocially oriented workers, the person-situation configuration. Specific behaviors may be considered the unit of attention for behaviorally oriented workers, and a proposed bill in Congress could be the unit of attention for a social activist.
