தன்னார்வலர்களிடமிருந்து ஒருங்கிணைந்த முறையில் நிதி திரட்டுவதற்காக, உள்ளூர் அளவில் செயல்பட்ட நிறுவனங்கள் ஒன்றிணைந்து உருவாக்கிய கூட்டமைப்பு. ஒன்றிணைந்து திரட்டப்பட்ட நிதி ஆதாரம், சேவை நிறுவனங்கள், மருத்துவ சேவை நிறுவனங்கள், கல்வி நிறுவனங்கள், கலை மற்றும் பொழுதுபோக்கு அமைப்புகள் போன்றவற்றின் தேவைகளுக்கு ஏற்ப பிரித்துக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது. 1918 ஆம் ஆண்டு சமுதாயப் பொது நிதி அமைப்புகளின் கூட்டமைப்பாக ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டு, 1956 இல் ஒருங்கிணைந்த சமுதாய நிதியம் என்று பெயர் மாற்றப்பட்டு, 1970 ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் ஒன்றிணைக்கப்பட்ட செயல்பாடு என்ற பெயரில் இயங்கி வருகிறது.

The national federation of local organizations established to systematize and coordinate voluntary fundraising efforts. The money raised through the United Way is used to fund social agencies; nonprofit human services organizations; and some health, education, and recreation programs in local communities. The organization was established in 1918 as the Community Chest and Councils of America, modeled after the program developed in Denver by Frances Wisebart Jacobs. In 1956 it was renamed United Community Funds and Councils of America. It acquired its present name in 1970.
