ஒரு சிறப்புத் தொழிலினர், அவருடைய தொழிலுக்கென்று வரையறுக்கப்பட்டு ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்ட தொழில் தரத்தில் தொழிலைச் செய்யத் தவறுவது. தன் தொழில் விதிமுறைகளுக்கு மாறாக, தொழிலில் தவறிழைப்பது. இது தொழிலுக்கென்று வகுக்கப்பட்ட நன்னடத்தையைப் பின்பற்றாதது, தொழில் அறிவை துஷ்பிரயோகம் செய்வது, தொழிலுக்கு உரிமம் வழங்கும் சட்ட நிபந்தனைகளை மீறி நடந்துகொள்வது போன்ற நடத்தைகளை உள்ளடக்கும். இந்த சொற்பிரயோகத்தை சிறப்புத் தொழில் அல்லாத அல்லது வாழ்க்கைத்தொழிலாக எதையும் மேற்கொண்டிராதவற்றுடன் இணைத்துக் குழப்பிக் கொள்ளக்கூடாது.
