The view that public assistance and other social services are entitlements available to any of a nation's citizens. Welfare rights organizations say that among the rights of welfare recipients are confidentiality of personal information from welfare investigators, greater availability of information about the benefits for people who are eligible, increased accessibility of welfare offices (nearer to transportation routes, open longer hours, and shorter waiting lines), and more equitable distribution of services and funds.
